How to Hear and Listen to God’s Voice? Listening to God’s voice can be quite challenging at times, especially, if He is giving us instructions on how we should live our lives or developing a purpose for our lives. Hearing God’s voice can keep us from a lot of trouble later on in life.
We live in a world that is noisy whether it’s on our jobs, in our home, among our friends and family members. The noise we encounter every day doesn’t allow us to focus on God or better yet, hear Him. Listening to God’s voice means not listening to the noise and the chaos around us. It’s not easy, but it can be done when we desire to hear God’s voice.
This requires making a deliberate choice to shut out the chaos around you and focus your thoughts.

God’s Plan Is The Best Plan:

God has a plan for every single one of us. He thinks enough of us to give us a hope and a future for our lives. His plan is not always the easiest, but it is the best plan.
Have you ever asked God to show you His plans and purposes for your life?
If you have never asked God, take time to ask God. And, when He tells you. Ask Him if He is willing to guide you through that plan for your life. Be assured. His answer will be, yes.
Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (NIV).
God clearly shows us in scripture that He will guide us when we lean not to our own understanding, but in all of our ways, we acknowledge Him. He will direct our path. Proverbs 3:5-6.
In order for God to guide our lives, we have to be willing to listen to what He said. However, if we are not listening, we’re going to miss it. In Mark 4:23, Jesus said, “If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.”
Expect God To Speak After You Pray:

Every time that I pray, I expect God to answer. I wait patiently for Him to speak. It may not be at that very moment. But, I listen. Also, if we expecting God to speak to us. It requires the right attitude in our hearts. That means, we must be willing to receive His instructions and to do His will. Habakkuk did. God honors the heart that is fully surrendered to Him.
We will never hear God’s voice if we are stubbornly clinging to our desires. If we think He’s speaking, it won’t be clear and we’ll remain unsure of the garbled message we think we’ve heard. If I’m planning to listen to God, plan on learning patience.
No place in the Bible shows God running on someone’s schedule or fitting into our time-frame. God is delighted to answer our prayers, but there are times we have to wait patiently for Him to answer. Waiting isn’t easy and sometimes doesn’t always deliver the answer we desire. However, while we’re waiting. God is developing us into something priceless.
But, isn’t it refreshing to know, you waited for Him to answer.
Nonetheless, if we don’t wait to listen to God, we are likely to continue pursuing a path that is contrary to the plan God has designed for our lives.
Listen to God’s Voice In Everything:

Keep in mind, God’s guidance is of no value if we’re not willing to listen. ‘Don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track’ (vv.5–6, MSG)
In conclusion, how to hear and listen to God’s voice will require waiting. As you’re waiting on God to speak, He has several ways that He speaks to us.
Through His word. When we open up our Bible, we are literally opening the words of God. God’s voice is immediately available for us at that very moment, for every situation, and every predicament, we’re facing.
Through Our Prayers. In your prayer time, how much time do you spend listening to God or do you do all the talking? Many of us do all the talking, then we’re finished with prayer. That’s not hearing God’s voice. That’s simply telling God all of our problems and our wish list.
Through Ways That Are Crystal Clear To Us. God will always confirm His actions through the word of God. He will speak quietly. When God is asking us to do something, we can find it through His word. He will always provide a way for us to get it done. Even, when we don’t understand the direction or His instructions.
Through Restlessness. There will be moments when you feel so restless and uncertain about where God is trying to lead you. During these times, we have to slow-down and seek God’s voice so we won’t falter. God’s plan is usually not the direction He wants to go in. He knows exactly what to do to get our attention. Seek Him!
Through Early Morning Hours. At this time of the morning, there is no sound, noise, light, absolutely nothing. You’ll immediately know, it’s God’s way of getting your attention. Enjoy the visit. Allow God to speak to you and give you the instructions you need for your life.
Don’t miss it…Make a practice to get alone with God. Before you start doing all the talking, let Him speak. He desires to help you make wise decisions all the days of your life.
‘Don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track’ (vv.5–6, MSG)
